The book includes Stern's on-air, imaginary rendition of Magic's less-than-frank discussion with a former bed partner: Magic had kept hundreds of women he'd slept with in the dark about the fatal risk they were taking. When Magic Johnson's announcement that he was HIV-positive was greeted with gushing reverence from the media, Stern had his own, more on-point take. Referring to a right-wing group asking for donations for its effort to have him removed from the airwaves, Stern wonders, "Why are they raising money to force me off the air? Send the money directly to me, and if it's enough, I'll leave voluntarily." In an on-air discussion with Dick Cavett, Stern combined a reference to Cavett's up-and-now-mostly-down talk show career with one to Cavett's long battle against depression this way: "What's worse, Dick, when they cancel one of your shows or when they cancel one of your prescriptions?"Īnd, very occasionally, Stern is even funny when the topic might actually matter to someone. For anybody harboring any remaining doubts, Private Parts proves that in America today, anything can be a "book," and anyone can be an "author." Indeed, it proves that anyone can be the nation's No.1 best-selling "author." Yet another triumph of democracy over quality. Well, with the publication of this book, a 446-page attack of verbarrhea from morning radio man Howard Stern, it's going to get much worse. Private Parts Howard Stern Simon & Schuster, $23 By Scott Shuger People in book publishing are always complaining about how much material they have to wade through and how little of it is any good.

So, thank you Rey for those lessons and Happy birthday Howard Stern! Does it work with all of them? No some have egos or the money goes to their heads but many are just the same as you and me. It was a valuable lesson that I continue to abide by… you don’t faint at their feet and scream your head off like a teenager, you treat them with respect and like anybody else. Rey taught me how to be fearless, how to be outgoing and how to treat celebrities because living in New York City you do get to see quite a few of them. Fame from my understanding is not something that everyone can handle and there is more than one side of it that we see and what is real.
I did however get some autographed pictures of the staff of the Howard Stern show and also my ex was board operator for Dee Snider, of Twisted Sister, who I did get to talk to on more than one opportunity and got his autograph. No, before anyone gets excited I didn’t get ‘introduced’ to Howard, I only wish but he would tell me what Howard was like from having worked with him. He got to work at the radio station WXRK and was an extra in one of his videos.
I suppose I should mention my New York-ex (Rey) that got me to live in New York City and introduced me to Howard Stern.
